Thanks to all for all your input.

I just got a call from the Dr. Office that I tested positive for valley fever and now they want me to come in for another blood test to confirm it. My CT test has not come back yet.

I do not know what to do. They also said my white blood cells were a little elevated and wanted to know if I am taking the antibiotics.

I do not like taking these antibiotics and I have taken about 5 out of the 20 prescribed.

I would think if I tested positive for valley fever the next step is to get me going on an anti-fungal.

Am I missing something here?

Thank you to everyone for helping me understand what is going on here.

Heidi

Good question for your doctor. There are no false positives with VF as far as I know. There can be false negatives. Did he say which VF test he ordered? If it was a titer test, ask to see what the titers are. They would come back 1:2 or 1:4 or 1:8 or 1:16, it always doubles for the dilution rate. The higher the number the worse it is. Ask him if he realizes that antibiotics can lower your immunities to the fungal infection. If he doesn't
know that, it's time to look for a new doctor who is familiar with VF.
