Hi. I am new here. We were in CA in Sept... My immune system was low , due to thyroid problems... We were there from Sept 10 - Sept 17. I started losing my voice on the 15th... came home went to dr she put me on a antibiotic for 10 days. still felt terrible... coughing, itchy scalp, ankles really hurt... still no voice... went for chest xray on friday, oct. 11, said sm. mass. need to have ct scan... ins. refused.
Finally approved and got ct scan on friday oct18.. now waiting for results...
I have been pretty healthy for my 54 yrs.. this is the worse i have ever felt...
I am female and back in june july felt awful and found out is was my thyroid... kind of undercontrol but not completely... also have numb toes and fingers. is this all part of valley fever?
I am sure they are going to say it is something else, as i live in CT.. i have read, that if they say it is something like cancer, etc to be tested for valley fever especially if you have been in a endemic area recently....
any suggestions would be most helpful... so worried, scared and just want to feel better... thanks.. glad i found this site... Sad

Sadly..welcome..

We all have so many questions when we are first diagnosed and this forum is a great place to find answers. If you go to the top of this page and type your question in "search" you can find many of the answers you are seeking even if no one responds directly to you. We have all asked the same things and have many of the same problems so more than likely your answers are there..and it helps to see how many people have gone through the same thing so you don't feel so alone. "FAQ" can also give you info as well as the excellent book written by the folks who run this website.."Valley Fever Epidemic" which you can buy on Amazon. Sharon and Dave are also available to answer your more personal questions and help you with your diet which is an important part of controlling VF. We are a tight-knit community of caring folk and hope you feel better soon.

The more you educate yourself, the more certain you can be to achieve the protocol that most helps you. Very few of us have hit gold with the doctors on the first attempt and the more we, ourselves, know about VF, the more likely we are to be treated correctly. There is so much misinformation about VF that the best thing to do is become your own advocate. It makes you feel less victimized and helps you to follow a course that will get you well.

Feel better soon.
All the best,
Susan
