http://valleyfeversurvivor.com presents Valley Fever Voices, our video series for survivors to share their stories of struggles, losses, and triumphs when dealing with this disease. The long-form interview format allows survivors to provide a more complete picture of what they experienced. If you or a family member have VF, it is comforting to know what others have been through and that victories are possible. You are not alone.

It is fitting that Jerry Galang is our first interview in the Valley Fever Voices series since he was also the first person to sign in with a questionnaire at Valley Fever Survivor in 2002.

See his video now at http://youtu.be/DHc3JdfUeKc

We hope the video series is helpful to many people, those who are newly diagnosed, with chronic cases, or perhaps not infected at all.

All my best,

Such a long hard road is this Valley Fever. So many people affected, so many with ignorant doctors, wrong diagnoses. The work that is done here by Valley Fever Survivor, Sharon and Dave, and the time given by all those who participated, will never be in vain. Strides are being made in the general public and the medical field. My thanks to all involved who took the time out from their own problems to share with the world.

Thank you very much everyone. I'm glad to follow up with another video from a longtime board member:

We met and worked with Kathy Terrell near the time valleyfeversurvivor.com began, while her brother Max Blalock was sick with Valley Fever. We were honored she stayed with us to help others even for years after Max passed away from Valley Fever in 2003.

http://youtu.be/FPB-KGCEuDc

In this presentation she shares some of what she wrote about his complicated tale of Valley Fever, including the problems caused by the disease and problems caused by unhelpful medical practitioners. She also shares information about Max himself to honor his life, and included pictures to show him as he lived. Kathy was unable to connect with VFS by Skype so her voice will be heard over Max's pictures.

Thank you to everyone for your support and I am certain you will be touched by Max's story, as we are.

We have a new video in the Valley Fever Voices series:
http://youtu.be/gtBtlX4a2T4

Sharon Rose Hatt Garrett had not only experienced problems from Valley Fever, but also from various doctors and medical professionals whose attitudes and inadequacies compounded the problems of proper care.

Even worse, her own family did not understand how severe Valley Fever could be, and she shares some of the strains and changes in the family dynamic that can occur from Valley Fever.

Please check it out at http://youtu.be/gtBtlX4a2T4

Gina has the next video in the Valley Fever Voices series: http://youtu.be/0ho4blUF990

Gina Potter had a severe case of meningitis from Valley Fever. The severity of this was compounded by delays in diagnosis and medical understanding of her case. It was also complicated with hydrocephalus, a dangerous pressure on her brain due to an increase in fluid within her skull. She explains the course of her recovery, involving a variety of treatments, the use of the Ommaya Reservoir to put antifungal medication directly into her cerebrospinal fluid, and the necessity of a positive attitude.
