Many people with VF find themselves dissatisfied with doctors. Some who liked their doctors also had to find new ones when the doctors retired when unhappy with changes they would have to make due to changes in health care law. Regardless of whether you can find a doctor that you like, call the office to let them know you are very concerned about VF treatment and would like to know if the doctor would be willing to have a doctor-to-doctor consultation with a VF expert about your care.
If the answer is no, avoid the office. If the answer is yes, provide the doctor with the phone number for Kern Medical Center (661) 326-2000. Let him know he should be transferred to Dr. Royce Johnson's office for a Valley Fever consultation. So far these have been free consultations from Kern Medical Center's point of view, but it must be from one doctor to another and the physician you visit locally would expect to be paid.
The Valley Fever Center for Excellence also used to provide free consultations, but it appears that may not be the case now.
Regardless, consultation by phone can be done across the country, even if you move. I hope this will help.
All my best
