Hello all!

Has anyone out there had dental problems due to VF?

I've always been attentive to my dental hygiene, but I literally have teeth that are falling apart. I'm trying to pinpoint the cause(s).

I'm wondering if the VF I've had for 30 years (boy that makes me feel old!) could be one of the culprits.

Input?

Thanks!

While not often discussed, dental problems have occurred in VF. It has been mentioned more often by survivors themselves than in the medical literature, but osteomyelitis at the jaw is a genuine possibility.

Whether or not your ongoing problems are directly connected to VF, it is also worth noting that dental problems sometimes happen when diet is poor and the immune system is weak. In Western nations we have both the highest intake of dairy and calcium as well as the highest incidence of bone problems. Sugar and inflammatory foods are likely culprits, and we have seen great benefits from those who reject the standard American diet and focus on healing anti-inflammatory foods. How has your eating been?

I'm sure I can provide medical journal citations if they will help your medical team to consider VF as a possibility or to uncover the cause. Please keep us posted.

All my best,
